When you are thinking about visiting somewhere that is nice and tropical during the very cold winter months, give some thought to St. Thomas, a gorgeous island that is located in the Caribbean Sea. There are so many great reasons why I love to visit this paradise as often as I am able to.

Let's talk about some of the reasons that you might consider going to St. Thomas.

The beaches of St. Thomas will just take your breath away with their beauty and gorgeously blue water. Many smaller, less crowded ones are there also, where you will be able to completely relax and unwind.

There's also plenty of great food. There are many upscale restaurants on this island with talented chefs. If you enjoy eating gourmet foods and well prepared meals, then you\'ll have a huge handful of different restaurants to choose from when visiting St. Thomas.

The island has a very unique topography which accounts for the nice mixture of mountains and beaches. Of course, if you were visiting the Rockies, you would see the snow-capped mountains; nevertheless, when you visit St. Thomas, you are going to get to see some high points here where the view of the water is spectacular.

It is very convenient that the native language on St. Thomas is English. How much easier it is to go to a place where everyone speaks the same language, not a different one. The fact that all the people on the island speak perfect English should make you happy.

People also enjoy the fact that they don't need a passport to visit. Since St. Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands, this is truly an American destination. As a result, you won't need any form of passport or international identification in order to travel there.

Something to keep in mind when you are visiting here is that if you rent a car, remember that the cars drive on the left side of the road. This, as well as the fact that there are some pretty steep hills on the roads, can make driving here a little difficult.
